“Sustainable wastewater treatment combining anaerobic membrane technology and water reuse” Innovation Deal on the Circular Economy.

In 2016 the EC, in line with its economic objectives, launched the Innovation Deals on the Circular Economy with the aim of joining different interest groups in fields in which the existing regulations were seen to hinder the start-up of innovative and productive ideas. In other words, these working groups are supposed to identify any bottlenecks or barriers caused by EU or national regulations that hinder innovation and to suggest possible solutions to get around them by means of the flexibility of the current norms.

One of the proposals approved was the “Sustainable wastewater treatment combining anaerobic membrane technology and water reuse”  ID. The consortium is formed by public water bodies, universities, research centres, companies and final users and is coordinated by Dr. Aurora Seco Torrecillas, a founding member of CALAGUA group and Full Professor at the University of Valencia.

The definitive results of the work done by the “Sustainable wastewater treatment combining anaerobic membrane technology and water reuse” ID will be published together with the EC’s evaluation of the initiative during 2019.
